Welcome!
Throughout my years at Shippensburg, being involved with student media has allowed me to strengthen what I have learned as a print media student and to exercise my knowledge into the real world. I have taken numerous classes that have strengthened my knowledge in copy editing and I know my skills have not gone unnoticed. I was promoted from Assistant Copy Editor to Chief Copy Editor (over the existing Chief) during my senior year because of my accomplishments as an excellent assistant. I have covered many on-campus events, but my favorite topic to cover was music. I have gotten the opportunity to interview a variety of musical artists in different genres. The biggest bands I had the opportunity to interview were All Time Low and the Plain White T's. I've also interviewed a country/rock artist named Russell Dickerson, an organic pop duet called The Bergamot and a hip-hop and pop violinist named Josh Vietti.
Growing up, I had a knack for writing fiction stories on my home computer, and when my father read one, he was impressed with my imagination. He told me I should continue with writing because I had a true gift. As a junior in high school, I took a journalism class, and that's when it hit me that I wanted to become a writer. My teacher nominated one of my articles for a scholastic prize, and that reinforced my desire to continue with journalism.
I believe my career path is either copy editing or being part of a radio station. I have worked with a radio company already, and it was nothing short of wonderful and fun. Both of my positions in college through student media as the Chief Copy Editor and being on the radio will open many doors for me because I know I can deliver an excellent product on time.
